BitcoinStrategy.co.uk ("we", "us", or "our") is a project operated by Mycelium Consulting Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 12650679), registered office: 30 Westgate, Otley, West Yorkshire, LS21 3AS. Mycelium Consulting Limited is the data controller responsible for personal data collected through this website. Mycelium Consulting Limited is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office. We are committed to protecting your privacy, and this Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information about you when you visit our website.

Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Information you provide directly: When you use our contact form, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, subject, and message content.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: When you subscribe to our newsletter or request a gated resource, we collect your email address and, optionally, your first name. Subscriptions use a double opt-in process, so we only add you to our list after you confirm via email.
  • Information collected automatically (via self-hosted Plausible Analytics): We use Plausible Analytics, which we self-host on our own infrastructure. Analytics requests are proxied through this website’s own domain, so your browser makes no request to any third-party analytics provider and no analytics data is sent to Plausible Insights OÜ. The software sets no cookie and stores no identifier on your device. To count unique visits it derives a hash from the requesting IP address, the browser user-agent, the site domain and a salt that the software rotates daily, so that a visitor cannot be recognised across days; per its published design the analytics application does not store the raw IP address or user-agent. The information kept is aggregated: referral source, pages viewed, visit duration, device type, operating system, browser and country. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your inquiries submitted through the contact form.
  • To send you the educational content, resources, or newsletter you have requested, and to manage your subscription.
  • To understand how visitors use our website and improve its content and functionality (using aggregated analytics data that is not linked to an identified individual).
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)

Our legal basis for processing information depends on the specific context:

  • Contact Form Submissions: We process this information based on our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiries or, if applicable, to perform a contract or take steps at your request prior to entering into one.
  • Analytics Data (Plausible): We process this data, which is aggregated and pseudonymised rather than linked to an identified individual, on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our website performance and user experience.
  • Newsletter Subscriptions: We process your email address (and any first name you provide) on the basis of your consent, given through our double opt-in confirmation. You may withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Website hosting and forms (Netlify): Our website is hosted on Netlify, and contact-form submissions are processed using Netlify Forms. Netlify therefore processes the personal data you submit through our forms (such as your name, email address, and message) on our behalf as a data processor. See Netlify's Privacy Policy.
  • Newsletter delivery: Newsletter sign-ups and emails are managed through our own email platform and delivered via Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES, EU region). Your email address is processed solely to manage your subscription and send the content you have requested.
  • Analytics (self-hosted Plausible): No third-party analytics provider receives this data, and none is sent to Plausible Insights OÜ. The application is one we operate. Two infrastructure providers are nonetheless in the path and act as processors: Netlify, because analytics requests are proxied through this website’s own domain and therefore transit Netlify’s edge, and Hetzner Online GmbH, which hosts the server the analytics application runs on.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities or to assist government enforcement agencies; (b) enforce our agreements with you; (c) investigate and defend ourselves against any third-party claims or allegations; (d) protect the security or integrity of our service; or (e) exercise or protect the rights and safety of our users, personnel, or others.

International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers are based outside the UK. In particular, Netlify (which hosts our website and processes form submissions) is based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK GDPR (Chapter V) — such as the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision — so that your data continues to receive an equivalent level of protection. Email delivery for our newsletter (Amazon SES) takes place within the European Union, and the server hosting our analytics application is located in Germany; both are within the EEA, which the UK recognises as providing an adequate level of protection.

Data Retention

We retain information submitted through the contact form only for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry or resolve the matter. Aggregated analytics data is held on infrastructure we operate and is retained under our own retention practices rather than a third party’s. Separately, our hosting and proxy providers generate their own server logs, which may include IP addresses, and retain them under their own policies; these are operational logs rather than analytics data.

Your Data Protection Rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK data protection law, you have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • The right to access -- You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
  • The right to rectification -- You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate or complete information you believe is incomplete.
  • The right to erasure -- You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to restrict processing -- You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to object to processing -- You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
